Callum Kellie

Based in Aberdeen in Scotland's north east, my practice uses a blend of of photography, video and sculpture making use of documentary form and vernacular to create work that speaks poetically in a familiar visual language.

Photography is like memory, it is unreliable giving only senses of fleeting moments, a nostalgia that don't often match with the reality of the event or others perception of the memory. John Lennon used to go to Strawberry Fields as a child, the Salvation Army band used to play at special picnics there near his childhood home. My images respond to this playing with the sense of things the song conjures, the imagery at the corner of my minds eye.
